Labor Day Weekend at Langkawi

You know that time when you meet a few people and you just 'click' right away? You know you'll have lots of things to talk about, stuff to share, and then along the way, you'll discover the many similarities and differences each other hasthat's probably how it all started (at least for me, it was how.)
As early as November last year, the six of us planned a Labor Day weekend getaway. But one couldn't make it due to a family event back in PH. Nonetheless, we pushed the trip through and made it happen—our first #BessyXtravels.

I liked Langkawi, but moreover, I like how we got to know each other more during that weekend in a personal kind of way. I liked the stories, the banters, the talks and the (mis)adventures we all had which we probably just keep to ourselves anyway. *wink wink*

So here's what went down on our three-day escape from Singapore's hustle and bustle.

Beach walk and Night Market

We had a connecting flight from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi. Truth be told, I almost missed our flight because my annoying self set the alarm for weekdays and it was a Saturday flight. Good thing I woke up in the middle of my sleep despite drinking a few beers the night before. Hehe

After taking a quick nap, we headed to Pentai Cenang beach to eat dinner at The Cliff Restaurant, which has a 180 degree view of the beach. Feeling already recharged, we walked along the shoreline while the sun was setting right in front of us. It was only day 1 and Langkawi is already showing off with its beautiful, pinkish sunset.

Thirty minutes away from the beach is the Kuah Town where the night market is held every Saturday. On the hunt for something unique to eat, we strolled down the colorful makeshift stalls and ate what we thought deserves a try.

This is their version of Philippines' palitaw but I can't remember what is it called in MY.

Island Hopping and Sunset Dinner Cruise

The highlight of our trip probably happened on Day 2, and also the most exhausting day.

We did island hopping with three stops from Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Woman) to Pulau Singa Besar for eagle feeding and finally, to Beras Basah Island or Wet Rice Island. The last stop is where we had fun the most as we just soaked up the sun and enjoyed Langkawi's clear waters.

After island hopping, we went back to our hotel to prepare for the sunset dinner cruise. We didn't have any lunch at all so when we got to meet up point, we were all so hungry and irritated.

But nonetheless, we sailed through the Andaman Sea with a beer and occasional wine in one hand, while watching the graceful changing of colors in the sky.

Disclaimer: No, we don't have Blogger Jowas (if you know what I mean) to take our photos. What we do have is our artsy little selves that can take far more blogger and IG worthy photos. Lol

Waterfalls and Oriental Village

In most cases, during a trip, last day is only spent for going back home but not for us. We made the most out of our third and last day by hiking up to the Seven Wells waterfalls. Honestly, we expected a very short hike, but the real fun came when we had to climb the stairs with a total of 638 steps to reach the top. Haha

The waterfalls was a beauty, with its cold and refreshing waters.

We checked out of our hotel, headed for a quick lunch, then straight into Oriental Village where Langkawi's major tourist attraction is located—the Skcycab ride and SkyBridge.

We rode Langkawi Cable Car or the SkyCab going to SkyBridge. They say, SkyCab is the steepest cable car. It was a bit scary, but the panoramic view of Langkawi along the way and around the SkyBridge was definitely worth it.

And that is how we capped off our trip.

PS: We also had a connecting flight from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur to Singapore via Malindo Air. Our flight to Singapore was delayed for three hours without any prior notice. Note to self: DO NOT FLY VIA MALINDOR AIR again.
